New Somerset Methodist Church Cemetery is currently closed and no longer accepting new burials.
Directions: The cemetery is located on the east side of Township Road 241 about 0.1 miles south of its intersection with Ohio State Route 213.
A list of vendors approved to open/close graves will be developed.
Fee to be determined annually after approving vendors for that year. (funeral home writes the checks to pay vendors)
Knox Township personnel will dig – 18”x 18” x 18”
$400 fee to open/close a cremation burial.
If funeral home is handling, they will write check to Township. Otherwise, Cash/money order/bank cashier’s check will be accepted directly by the Township.
A one-time burial fee of $300 will be charged.
Burial Fee is waived if deceased is a tax-paying resident of Knox Township at time of death.
Applies to traditional and cremation burials. If funeral home involved, it writes the check to the Township. If no funeral home involved, the fee may be paid by cash/money order/ bank cashier’s check directly to the Township.
A list of vendors approved to install bases/foundations will be developed. This is to help ensure that the integrity of the bases/foundations will last throughout the years. Families will pay vendor directly.
No lot deeds are held by the Township (or the previous cemetery association). A valid deed must be provided to prove the right to use a burial lot.
